Locked On Heat - Daily Podcast On The Miami Heat

Did the Miami Heat's drop coverage really cost them their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves? After Anthony Edwards torched Miami's defense, fans are questioning Erik Spoelstra's strategy. But the numbers tell a more complicated story.
Wes Goldberg and David Ramil break down why Miami's defensive scheme might not be the problem everyone thinks it is. Despite Minnesota's perimeter success, the Timberwolves made just six shots at the rim. So was the real issue Miami's inability to navigate screens, 17 offensive rebounds allowed and poor three-point shooting?
Plus, it's a Locked On Heat mailbag! The guys separate opening-night overreactions from legitimate concerns, including Miami's lack of shot creation outside Giannis Antetokounmpo. Why didn't Giannis and Bam Adebayo play more minutes together? Did the Heat's big lineups backfire? And should fans be worried about Pelle Larsson? One loss doesn't define a season, but which problems actually need fixing?

Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered in his Miami Heat debut, but Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves spoiled opening night! Miami's season-opening loss exposed some familiar concerns, including a lack of offensive shot creation outside of Giannis. Wes Goldberg and David Ramil break down everything that went wrong in the Heat's first game of the 2026-27 NBA season. Giannis looked like the superstar Miami hoped for, but where was the help? And how much should Heat fans worry about the supporting cast after just one game?
It's time for Player Veggies, as the guys evaluate disappointing performances from Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell. Plus, should Miami be concerned about Klay Thompson and Nikola Jovic? Did Erik Spoelstra's drop coverage give Anthony Edwards too many open looks? And what adjustments can the Heat make before these opening-night problems become season-long issues? One game down. Plenty to unpack on Locked On Heat.

Miami Heat fans brace for a new era as Giannis Antetokounmpo debuts against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Are championship-level expectations finally back in Miami?

The conversation spotlights crucial matchups at Kaseya Center, including Giannis and Bam Adebayo vs. Rudy Gobert’s interior defense. Why did the Locked On NBA Network rank the Heat in the B Tier of its preseason power rankings? Are NBA analysts overlooking Giannis and Miami's championship potential? Plus, the Heat have one open roster spot after final cuts around the league. Could Walter Clayton Jr. or Dalton Knecht be worth a look?
Is this the BEST Miami Heat starting lineup in the last decade? With Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell preparing for opening night, Miami could have its most talented starting five in years. Wes Goldberg and David Ramil preview the Heat's 2026-27 season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves and debate whether this lineup is better than any Miami has fielded since the Big Three era.
