First Watch: Diddy Awaits Sentencing & Harmony Montgomery’s Case Heads to Appeal
Sean “Diddy” Combs just faced one of the most high-profile celebrity trials of the year. The music mogul was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking, but found guilty on two counts of transportation for prostitution. Ahead of his sentencing on October 3rd, dozens of civil lawsuits continue to mount, including one from his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Our second case brings us to New Hampshire, where Adam Montgomery was convicted of murdering his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony Montgomery, and sentenced to 45 years to life. But the case isn’t over yet. Adam’s attorneys are pushing for a new trial, and on October 15th, an appeals court will decide if his conviction will stand.

Night Watch: How a Conspiracy Theorist Convinced Her Daughter to Refuse Treatment
Paloma Shemirani was only 23 years old when she died of cancer. Doctors told her she had an 80% chance of survival with treatment, but she turned it down after her mom — former nurse and conspiracy theorist Kate Shemirani — convinced her not to. Paloma’s brothers say their sister’s death could have been prevented, and now they’re speaking out against their mom’s anti-medicine beliefs. From calling meat “poison” to claiming WiFi was dangerous, Kate’s ideas shaped Paloma’s choices. Now, with the inquest into Paloma’s death still ongoing, Katie looks at what’s really at stake.

First Watch: Malibu’s Dead Man’s Curve & an Australian Cold Case Reopened
In Malibu, the man accused of killing four college women in a 2023 Pacific Coast Highway crash has just hired celebrity defense attorney Alan Jackson, the same lawyer who defended Karen Read, while the community still grieves the loss. In the second case, Katie follows a cold crime that was recently reopened in Australia, where a 67-year-old man was arrested and charged with the rape and murder of Samantha Mizzi. Samantha was found dead in 1994, and Katie breaks down the DNA that helped investigators to track down the suspect 31 years later.

Night Watch: The Ketamine Queen who Killed Matthew Perry
Matthew Perry’s death shocked the world in October 2023, but the story is far from over. Recently, Jasveen Sangha, the Hollywood “Ketamine Queen,” took a plea deal after being charged in connection with the drugs that killed him. Perry, best known as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’, had long battled addiction, and prosecutors say Sangha and four others played a role in fueling his final relapse. With sentencing now on the horizon, Katie unpacks how Perry’s life ended, the drug network that surrounded him, and what Sangha’s deal means for justice moving forward.

First Watch: An Ex-MLB Player’s Greed & the Death of a Serial Killer’s Daughter
Money can lead people to devious ends. This was the case for Daniel Serafini, the ex-Major League Baseball player who was found guilty of shooting his in-laws at their home in Lake Tahoe, California. Instead of being sentenced, a judge recently granted a motion that could lead to a new trial. For the second case, Katie breaks down the scientific evidence that led to the acquittal of Christopher Wolfenbarger, a Georgia man accused of killing and dismembering his wife, Melissa. Melissa was the daughter of Carl Patton Jr., better known as the “Flint River Killer,” a convicted serial murderer responsible for five killings in the 1970s. With both her husband and father tied to violent crime, Katie asks: how did tragedy come to define this Georgia family?
