Behind a wall of stacked mirrors in a New Westminster gallery, something has been waiting since long before the art went up. In this episode, Nadine Bailey sits down with Jay Groening, Cree and Saulteaux artist and founder of Native Art Renaissance, to talk about the hidden tunnel, and the wooden cross they found behind the hundred-year-old wall.

Along the way, Jay opens up about building an Indigenous-led gallery from nothing, the history of the street it sits on, and what happened the night a painting fell off the wall at the worst possible moment. Is it the echo of a history the city would rather forget, or something that's chosen to stay?
