E113 - how to know when to be on time in France ?

    07/10/2026 | 16min
Do French people have a different relationship with time? 🇫🇷⏰

In this episode of Ta Vie en Français, I explore one of those invisible cultural rules that can make life in another country surprisingly confusing: how we use and understand time.

After living in Spain for 11 years, with a Peruvian wife and a multicultural family, I've learned that being "on time" doesn't mean exactly the same thing everywhere. Today, I'll share some funny—and sometimes frustrating—experiences ...

But most importantly, we'll look at what you can expect when you visit or move to France. When should you arrive? Is being late acceptable? Should you arrive early for dinner? Why do French people like to plan things in advance, but also tell you to "take your time"?

If you're learning French and interested in French culture, cultural differences and what it's really like to live in France, this episode will help you understand some of the unwritten rules behind the language.

    ------

E111 - My story as a French only child

    23/09/2026 | 19min
Being an Only Child in France: Was I Really Spoiled?

When we think of an only child, we often imagine someone spoiled, selfish, unable to share, and always wanting to be the center of attention.

But is that really the reality?

In this new episode, I share my story of growing up as an only child in France. I talk about my childhood, my shyness, my difficulty opening up, my relationship with my parents, and my fear of disappointing them. But I also talk about the independence and creativity that growing up as an only child gave me.

It’s a personal episode, but also a reflection on stereotypes, family, personality, parenting, and the differences between generations.

    Enjoy listening !

    -------------
