EP 293: The return of Terrestrials Adrian Duke and Ben Benton talking new music and much more

    15/09/2026 | 1h 22min
This week on Heavy Metal Tones, I’m back with Terrestrials — and this time I’m joined by guitarist Adrian Dukeand drummer Ben Benton for a deep dive into the band’s latest chapter.
We talk about their brand-new singles “Many Moons” and “Endure”, the stories behind the songs, the evolution of the band and what’s happening behind the scenes as Terrestrials continue to push their sound forward.
You might remember my earlier conversation with Scott Alexander, where we talked about the band, their musical journey and their album Iridescent. Well, now we pick up that story and see where Terrestrials are heading next.
“Many Moons” looks at fear, failure and stepping outside those comfortable places we sometimes get stuck in, while “Endure” takes things somewhere deeper and more reflective.
Two new songs, two great musicians and plenty of conversation about where Terrestrials are heading next.
So turn it up and join me for Heavy Metal Tones Episode 293. 🤘🔥

EP 292 : When Low-Fi Becomes Audiophile — Are We Improving the Classics?

    08/09/2026 | 1h
When Low-Fi Becomes Audiophile — Are We Improving the Classics?
This week on Heavy Metal Tones, I’m getting into a subject that can divide music fans faster than a dodgy guitar solo — re-recording, remixing and remastering classic albums and tracks in the pursuit of better sound.
Can you really take a raw, dirty, low-fi classic and make it better without taking away what made it special in the first place?
I take a deep dive into Cronos’ re-recordings of classic Venom tracks, looking at what happens when one of the architects of extreme
metal goes back and revisits the music that helped define the genre.
Then I turn the spotlight onto the audiophile pressing of the Sex Pistols’ Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols. Does improving the sound reveal more detail and power — or does some of the glorious roughness and attitude get lost along the way?
This is a very personal look at original recordings versus reworked versions, the audiophile obsession, nostalgia, production choices and that eternal question:
Should we really be fixing something that wasn’t broken?
Turn it up, trust your ears, and join me for Episode 292 of Heavy Metal Tones.
