I'm floored by what happens when we hold a space for another or ourselves in the ritual container of our attention, and nourish the most potent and alive aspects of ourselves. Dòri Varga is an interdisciplinary artist who is as deeply sensual as she is intelligent. She has a mind sharp as a razor and an appetite for the edge, which she explores with hunger and courage in her work through her instantly recognisable page Blood of Aurora as well as her work as a solo and collaborative artist. Dòri truly has died many artistic and personal deaths in the time I've been following her work, which is about a decade. ADHD Woman. It's safe and healing to be unhinged.
I'm not a medical person. I'm a woman who wants to live my life fully alive and have to work with the hand I've been dealt. This is a reflection on the notion of ADHD as 'Trauma' and the consistent narrative of ADHD being a disadvantage that plugs into the existing feelings of shame neurodivergent people experience living a life feeling like we're 'not quite hitting the mark.'What if we're absolutely on the mark, we've just been told the mark isn't where we are.I decided a few years ago to let myself be unhinged, my creativity be unhinged and let me tell you, everything gets more authentic, juicier and simpler. If you have ADHD or not, so many of us feel we need to regulate away our quirks, our drives and passion, intense emotions and eccentricities. Yet it is absolutely the energy of this unique cocktail that our world needs.
