At the Showground, Lottie returns Chris’s phone after last night, and they agree they need a proper date, not a ‘booty call’. Chris gets a message from Harrison who’s due home in a couple of weeks, and wonders about living arrangements for himself and Martha. Chris is called away by David to the equestrian ring – the ground’s looking too hard to compete on.
Discussing the Borchester Show media plan, Amber wonders about some gaps. David insists all will become clear. He also advises getting some content from the Rural Crime Team. George sympathises about the recent attack on the sheep, and mentions Ed can’t show his Texel sheep due to Brian - Keira isn’t keen to step into the spotlight.
Amber’s dad, Bill, shows up looking for David. Bill has a stand at the Show and parks up his impressive prop 4x4 vehicle. Amber’s taken aback to learn about the ‘Platinum’ package Bill is getting, and that she’ll be writing up a piece on him for the Echo. George sheepishly explains his recent chat with Amber’s mum. Amber’s concerned about her parents lording the Platinum deal over her. Bill has another surprise for them – a baby shower gift in the form of a cot with plush features. Amber protests that they have the Grundy cot. George tries to mediate, offering his gratitude. But Amber feels put on the backfoot by her parents. She just wants the show done and her parents out of their lives. To help, George insists he’ll do the agreed interview with Bill.
