30/10/2026 | 1h 12minWho protects Palestinian communities when the army and the government fail to intervene?
In this episode, I speak with Sarit Michaeli. She coordinates a project against settler violence and annexation at the New Israel Fund. Before that, she spent 22 years at B’Tselem.
Sarit takes part in protective presence herself. Activists stay in threatened Palestinian villages in the West Bank to document violence and deter attacks.
The numbers show how urgent this is. Israel’s public broadcaster Kan reported a 63 percent rise in severe settler attacks in the first half of 2026. The UN counts more than 80 Palestinians killed by the military and settlers since the start of the year.
We talk about why settler violence is not a series of isolated incidents. About the role of the state. And about what civil resistance can achieve when institutions fail.

23/10/2026 | 59minWhat does it feel like to serve in the Israeli military for over 24 years and then publicly oppose the occupation?
In this episode, I speak with Nir Avishai Cohen. He is an Israeli peace activist, former spokesperson for Breaking the Silence and author. In 2023, he publicly declared that he no longer wanted to serve in the IDF. Yet after October 7, he returned to reserve duty for three months. Today, he accompanies Palestinian communities in the northern Jordan Valley who are threatened by settler violence.
In his 2025 book A Stranger in My Homeland, he documents the collapse of Israeli democracy, his experiences during the war and state repression. He also writes about the loss of his father, who took his own life out of despair over the country’s trajectory.
We talk about the growing influence of Religious Zionism within the military, a left that has become a minority, and the question of why liberal Israelis call for democracy while often ignoring the occupation. We also discuss the upcoming elections in Israel and what political future might be possible for a democratic, Jewish-Arab coalition.

Bank: GLS GemeinschaftsbankSpezialfolge: Ausgewiesen wegen Kritik?

13/10/2026 | 55minHow far has the normalization of far-right politics gone? And what do contacts between Netanyahu’s camp and the AfD have to do with it?
I’m speaking with David Issacharoff. He is an editor and writer for the English edition of the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, where he covers Israeli politics and society, relations between Israel and Europe, antisemitism, and right-wing populism. He also writes for German-speaking audiences, most recently a guest essay for Der Spiegel on contacts between Netanyahu’s circle and Germany’s AfD.
Israel votes on October 27, 2026, three years after the October 7, 2023 attacks. We talk about the election campaign, the question of political accountability, and whether the opposition has accepted the ethnic rules set by the right. We also ask what these developments mean for Europe, and where comparisons between Israel and Germany reach their limits.
